Who We Are

The people and passion behind every project we take on

Our Studio Workspace

Our Story

Founded back in 2012, we started out in a cramped office above a coffee shop on Queen West. Just three architects with a shared vision - to create spaces that actually work for the people living and working in them, not just look good in magazines.

Fast forward to today, and yeah, we've grown quite a bit. But honestly? We still approach every project with that same hands-on mentality. We're not into cookie-cutter designs or forcing a style where it doesn't belong. Your space should tell your story, not ours.

What really drives us is finding that sweet spot between contemporary design and lasting functionality. We've done everything from compact urban homes to sprawling commercial spaces, and each one taught us something new.

How We Think About Design

We don't follow trends for the sake of it. Here's what actually matters to us when we sit down with a new project.

01

Context-First Thinking

Every site has its own personality - the neighborhood, the light, the sounds, the way people move around it. We spend a lot of time just observing before we even sketch anything. A design that works in one location might totally flop somewhere else.

02

Honest Materials

We're big believers in letting materials be what they are. Concrete should look like concrete, wood should feel like wood. There's something authentic about embracing natural textures and aging rather than hiding behind finishes that'll look dated in five years.

03

Light & Flow

The way natural light moves through a space can make or break it. We're kinda obsessed with this. Same goes for how people actually use the space - nobody wants to walk through a bedroom to get to the kitchen, right? It's about intuitive movement.

04

Building Smart

Sustainability isn't a buzzword for us - it's practical. Better insulation means lower bills. Passive solar design means you're comfortable year-round. We look at the whole lifecycle, not just the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Meet the Team

We're a mixed bunch - different backgrounds, different strengths, but we all share the same commitment to doing right by our clients. No egos here, just people who genuinely love what they do.

Our team includes registered architects, interior designers, project coordinators, and sustainability consultants. Everyone brings something unique to the table, and honestly, that's when the best ideas happen - when we're all bouncing thoughts around.

Studied at Waterloo, spent five years in Copenhagen learning from the Scandinavian masters. Brings that minimalist sensibility but with warmth. Coffee addict, bike commuter, still sketches everything by hand first.

Design Director

McGill grad with a background in heritage restoration. She's the one who can make a 100-year-old building work for modern needs without losing its soul. Runs half-marathons and somehow still finds time to teach at Ryerson.

James Forge
James Forge

Senior Associate

The tech-savvy one who bridges old-school drafting with cutting-edge modeling software. U of T background, worked on some major commercial projects before joining us. Plays jazz piano, which somehow makes him better at spatial planning.

Working With Us

First off, we actually listen. Like, really listen. You're not gonna get talked over with jargon or pushed toward some pre-conceived notion we have. Your project is yours.

We typically start with a few informal meetings - sometimes over coffee, sometimes we'll walk the site together. Getting to know how you think about space is crucial. Then comes the sketching phase, where ideas are loose and everything's still possible.

From there, we refine, we model, we work through the details. We're pretty transparent about budgets and timelines because surprises aren't fun for anyone. And we stay involved through construction - it's not a "hand off the drawings and disappear" situation.
